Rainbow Snippet April 9

Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).

In this group you’ll find anything from romance and historical fiction to mystery and YA. The common thread is that every story’s main character identifies as LGBTQ+. The snippets could range from zero flames to full-on sexytimes, anything goes content-wise. The only rule is snippets will be 6 sentences long–one for each color in the Pride flag.

I would invite everyone to please come check out the Rainbow Snippets group, click on a link, read and comment on the writing available and get involved yourselves in this awesome exercise. The link to the group can be found HERE

I missed being able to snippet last week as I did not have a laptop at the BDSM writers conference I attended, but the conference was amazing and anyone wishing to read about it should scroll down to the blog entry below this one., Today's snippet is from my current work in progress Serpent's Kiss. (A Snakeshifter Novel)

“I have questions” Darrell stated.

“I will answer all that I am able” she said.

“Why are you all so convinced that I can help you”

Kandaal gave him a sad smile “That you are unaware of your worth is a sad thing.”

He cocked his head to the side, waiting.

“A prophet is more than just telling the future, your ability to read people is invaluable in negotiations, in business and in politics. You will be asked to help a lot of individuals, and we will need to guide you so you won’t be used.”

  1. Sounds like Darrell has an ally. I wonder if she's sincere or if she is one who is using him?

  2. I'm glad she's being direct with him and not just saying "all will be clear...one day." I hope she proves trustworthy.

  3. Interesting - I guess it's tough being a prophet. People always want to know things.

  5. Interesting. I like the idea of prophecy as a skill that makes someone more employable. Neat.

  7. "...we will need to guide you so you won’t be used.” That makes me so suspicious... like it should end with "by anyone but us."
