“You
are an unbelievable bastard,” they growled, shoving past him into the house
and out of the rain. “Of all the nerve to call Koda unambitious and an
underachiever when you have no clue just how hard he’s been working on his art
to get it to where he wants it to be so he can have a chance to sell it. You
have no clue how many hours him and I have sat at craft fairs and street
festivals talking to people and explaining pieces and you know what, he’s
always sold more than what it cost for the booth space. He’s gone to every art
class he could take in school and every single one that he could afford afterward. He
scavenges for materials and imagines all that they can be. He’s got more
creativity and talent than you could possibly imagine. How dare you make him
feel like shit for not being as successful as you think he should be.”
They
took a breath and Kenji rushed to explain before they could launch into a
tirade again.
“I
fucked up, I know that. I do, and I plan to make it right with him. I just need
to catch up with him. He’s kind of made sure to be gone by the time I come home
each day.”
“Well
no shit,” Avery growled. “He’s been crashing at my place. You really hurt him.
How the hell could you be so fucking cruel.”

ReplyDeleteOuch! Avery's a "shoot first, ask questions later" kind of person it seems.
