Sighing,
Aiden looked around the room to see that very little had changed since Raine
had moved in. His belongings were still in bags, lined up in a neat row beneath
the window.
“You have
that chance now,” Aiden whispered. “A fresh start, if you’re willing to stick
around and take it.”
“I’m not
going anywhere.”
“What
changed your mind?”
“You.”
Aiden’s
heart about melted hearing that. Leaning in, he kissed Raine gently, feeling
his soft lips move cautiously beneath his own. Raine kissed with a curiosity
Aiden mirrored, bodies pressing closer until fingers were carding through hair
and their breaths came in choppy gulps once they’d broken apart.
“Thank you
for actually caring enough to listen to me,” Raine whispered.
“I’m here
for you anytime you need, or want,” Aiden replied, caressing his cheek and
stifling a yawn.
“You look
worn out,” Raine said. “I should let you get to bed.”
“Or I
could stay.”
