When a Secret Santa matchup sends Ryu to the wrong Daddy, will it be a pleasant surprise for both of them or will grumpy Kissmass Daddy Hank prove why he's been alone for over a year?
“Buckle up,” Hank said as he slid into the driver’s seat,
hearing the click even as the words were leaving his mouth. That didn’t stop
him from glancing down to be certain Ryu’s seatbelt was secured properly.
“Do you want me to take half of the list so we can get out
of there faster?” Ryu asked as Hank backed them down the driveway.
“No. I’d rather have you by my side, expedience be damned.
We can tackle opposite sides of the aisle though, that will save us a little
bit of time. I’ll sent the list to your phone when we get there, I need to put the
damned ice melt shit on it before I forget again.”
“I’ll remind you,” Ryu said as Def Leppard’s Pour Some
Sugar On Me pumped through the radio. “Ohhh, I love this song. I always
wanted to choreograph something to it.”
“Why haven’t you?”
“You have to license music to use it as part of a theater
performance,” Ryu explained. “Since we’re working with a limited budget, we work
with local bands, and music majors over at the college, to compose pieces for
us. It gives them exposure and it gives us something unique. The closest I’ve
ever come to using this one was stripping to it at a bachelorette party.
Was a good thing there was a red light ahead, because Hank stopped
the car, fishtailing a little, and turned to face Ryu, a surge of
possessiveness shooting through him.
“You didn’t tell me anything about stripping,” Hank growled.
His boy must have sensed what was upsetting him, because he
met his gaze completely and raised Hank’s hand to his cheek so he could nuzzle
against it.
“Because I only did it once, as a favor to a friend when the
stripper she’d hired no showed,” Ryu explained. “It wasn’t a far stretch from
the dancing I was already doing, and she was in a bind. I’ve never done it
again and I wouldn’t knowing it would bother you.”
“You’re a sweet boy, and you’ll find that I am a very
possessive Daddy,” Hank replied as someone honked behind them. The damned light
had turned green, but he was in no hurry to stop looking at his boy. “I’d never
stand in your way of helping a friend, but I’d want to be close on hand to make
sure no one was touching all over what’s mine.”
The fucker behind him honked again, so Hank flipped him off
in the rearview and made damn certain he didn’t move until the light was on
yellow long enough that there was no way in hell the asshole would be able to
make it through behind him without running the red. With cameras on all of
these intersections, he’d be in for a nice little ticket if he did.
“I like you being possessive,” Ryu said, settling his hand
on Hank’s leg as he drove. “Least then I know you’ll never want to share me.
Kayla said that her first Mamma liked bringing other people to bed with them
and that she didn’t always feel good about it after, like she wasn’t ever sure if
she was enough. I think I’d feel the same way. I don’t think I’d even be able
to get into it, wondering if my partner was comparing me to the other person
and if I was measuring up.”
“Then it’s a good thing you’ll never have to worry about
that with me,” Hank assured him. “I always want you to speak up if you’re
feeling uncertain about something we’ve done, or worried that you didn’t do
something right, because that means I didn’t give you the reassurance and
praise you needed to feel secure and comfortable. If that ever happens, that
will be entirely on me, and I’ll need to do better to make sure it never
happens again.
“And you won’t be upset?”
“Hell no. Remember what I said about bluntness?”
“Yeah.”
“I meant it. Even if it’s you telling me I’ve made a mess of
shit. Daddies aren’t infallible and any who thinks they are has already fucked
up.”
When his boy flashed him a sweet smile, Hank knew his words
had gotten through to him. Communication would be key while they were building
trust and growing the relationship that was forming between them, and that
meant having the hard conversations, even when one didn’t want to.
“Just know that I will always try to make things right,”
Hank said. “And if I can’t, then we’ll figure it out together. I will never
expect you to blindly follow my lead. This thing only works if we’re willing to
work together to see to it we both get what we need. Understood?”
A Daddy for Christmas, a multi-author series. All the books are standalones, but each Daddy has a unique gift for his wonderful boy (or boys). Except all boys know that sometimes Santa gets it wrong, and it's going to take a very special Daddy to make it right. So why not stay and read them all?
